How can I install an umlaut domain in my DNS server?

We do not recommend using umlaut domains for mail traffic. Depending on the mail system, recipients will then receive an email from info@xn--zrich-kva.com instead of info@zürich.com

To install an umlaut domain in your DNS server, proceed as follows:

  • Log into your DNS server and select “Tool”.
  • Click on “IDN Converter”.
  • Enter the umlaut domain in the “Domain” field and then click on “send”

Now you get the domain in the encoded format. Eg for zürich.com you get “xn--zrich-kva.com”.

Now enter this domain in your DNS server. You can then call up the domain as normal with an umlaut via the browser.
